Sun, Moon and Stars
"Sun, Moon and Stars" is the third in the Loyola University series for the Institute of Pastoral Studies. The Book of Job 9:9 says, "He is the Maker of the Bear, and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south." I've used a combination of white and pale 24k gold in the Pleiades to create a subtle shimmer as viewers pass.
An Aggie Rooster
The Sexy Rooster, Part 2: Several years ago I completed a rooster stove backsplash in a kitchen. The client was a big collector of rooster-themed decor: pillows, dishes, tea towels, cookie jars. Everything rooster. Another client saw the backsplash on my website and has asked for her own version of the Sexy Rooster (so named because the inspiration photo I found on the internet, taken somewhere in Indonesia, was entitled, "sexy rooster." I think it was his shapely thighs). This time, we're bumping it up: this rooster will be accompanied not by a plump hen, but by a vintage red barn on the horizon painted with pro-Aggie slogans. The client has specifically requested that no burnt orange be used in the design. Stay tuned.

A New Series for Loyola University of Chicago
I've been commissioned to create a series of small mosaics for Loyola's Institute of Pastoral Studies. The subject matter is eight days of creation (the eighth day is Easter). Each mosaic is 8 x 8 inches (a coincidence?) and is made from Italian smalti with small gold embellishments. Below is a glimpse of the series coming together in the studio. Stay tuned for photos of the early December installation.
