Rooster and Hens Backsplash

Created for an Atlanta kitchen that had just undergone its first remodel in over 50 years, the Rooster and Hens backsplash adds a colorful scene over the high performance stove.

The mosaic is created from Mexican smalti (enameled glass) and Italian millefiori flower accents.

Lascaux Kitchen

Lascaux Kitchen

Winner of Dallas Home Design Magazine's “Best Kitchen” and Stone Magazine’s “Best of Home” awards, the Lascaux kitchen was inspired by a beautifully textured piece of granite that reminded the home owners of a trip to see the cave paintings in Lascaux, France.  Using the theme of our earliest human design motifs, the artists created several vignettes for the backsplash using both wetsaw-cut natural stone and inlaid glass.  Designed and fabricated by Julie Richey and Lynne Chinn.

This client had an impressive collection of rooster-themed items in her home.  When she asked for a rooster back splash, we were happy to oblige (having never made mosaic roosters or even feathers, for that matter).

An impressive, multi-piece limestone fireplace was the setting for the second in the Lascaux Series.  The client saw our award-winning Lascaux kitchen and asked to have something similar in style.  We incorporated his ranch's corporate logo into the mosaic at his request.

Mexican smalti (enameled glass) with bronze found screen ornament. Since this project was located out of town, we requested Hardibacker forms to which we glued the mosaic in our studio.  Screw hole attachments were marked on site prior to fabricating the mosaic.  Once the sections were screwed in place in the kitchen, individual tesserae were glued over the screws and grouted.

Gothic Castle Heart Fireplace

Gothic Castle Heart Fireplace

This limestone carved fireplace was shipped from Italy, but the lintel piece cracked in transit.  To cover the obvious signs of the patch job, we suggested a classical smalti and stone mosaic.  Problem solved.
