Azzurro is a reflection on our relationship with water as a precious natural resource. As we drill deeper into the Earth to extract natural resources, the drinking water supplies are dirtied and discarded. The swirling pool, which starts with a featured African ammonite fossil, gradually extends to include natural stone and discarded electronic components recycled from e-waste. Azzurro solidifies the commitment to utilizing available materials and repurposing the rich smalti, stone and pizzelle, or large pieces of Italian smalti, remaining from past commissions. 32 inches in diameter. 1 inch thick. $6000 USD.
Azzurro detail with natural stone, Italian and Mexican smalti, 24k gold smalti and electronic circuit components.

These mosaic shoes give new life to an infamous pair of disco mules. Once covered in red fake fur, they have traveled far and have been a part of many costumes: witch, butterfly, and “ancient Roman lady of the evening.” It’s now fitting that they be immortalized as icons of the disco era. They're embellished with bright-hot blue and orange flames, a reminder that they (and the wearers, both male and female, gay and straight) once burned up the dance floor.
Drop Series: Adriatic by Julie Richey. Italian smalti, pyrite, turquoise and copper gold on Hexlite. $1500 USD. Suitable for outdoor display.
