SAN ANGELO HERITAGE MOSAIC
Glazed porcelain
Created for the Porter Henderson Library at Angelo State University, the mosaic depicts the San Angelo region's history, geography, culture and campus traditions to reflect the connections between ASU and the surrounding community. The sides of the wall depict landscape scenes including native plants, wildlife and symbols derived from the nearby Paint Rock pictographs painted by the Jumano Native Americans. The top of the wall depicts "snapshots" as elements important to San Angelo cultural identity, such as a Ramboulliet ram, an Aeromotor windmill, the historic railroad trestle bridge over the Concho River and special species grown at the International Water Lily Gardens.
